HASHTAGS: To Raise Awareness

Updated: Aug 4

Forget what you thought you knew about hashtags. They are not just a cute accessory, they’re your community’s rally cry. A "rally cry" is a way to unite people under one purpose. It is something they might chant, share, or wear to show they are part of the movement. In advocacy, especially the kind that I lead, every campaign, blog, or event is ultimately about people.

At Chip’n Away @ Heart Disease, we redefined our hashtag game trading some pictus for a bold purpose. These little pound signs have become our megaphones, our mission statements, and yes, they are how I save lives one scroll at a time. I can't do this alone.

Because when it comes to heart disease which is the nation’s #1 killer, we’re not here to be quiet. We’re here to be loud, and heart smart. Each hashtag we use carries a message, and it’s important to understand what that message means and why it matters.

I meet people who don’t know what they don’t know with regard to this heart related wellness journey. Actually, we didn't either. We had researched our own path to recovery for my loved one and none of it made sense. He was struggling and we needed answers--quickly. Thankfully, the Emory St Joseph's medical team of (25) multidisciplinary medical professionals took the wheel from us. That’s exactly why I raise awareness. It is to shine a light on the silent risks, the overlooked symptoms, and emphasize the life-changing power of knowledge. Here's why I provide #HeartHealthAwareness.

Knowledge is power and awareness saves lives. This hashtag promotes understanding of symptoms, risk factors, and prevention strategies. Why it matters: Many people don’t realize they are at risk until it’s too late. Awareness changes that.

To Your Health, Cynthia
